Thame Bowls Club members on tour in 2009...
Last Saturday, Sept 22nd, saw the last game of the season played on our green this year - the Ladies took on the Gents in a 6 Triples game. Played in glorious sunshine, the Ladies, led by Caroline Walker (in the absence of "Cruising" Ruth Timms) came out strongly in the first few ends but faded rather badly as the game went on, and at the end the Gents (led by Vic Brooks) won quite handsomely!

The game was played in tremendous spirit, and although this game had been a regular fixture in the Thame Bowls Club calendar it wasn't played last year. It was however agreed by all concerned that it should now be put back in the diary. The Ladies will no doubt be looking for revenge in 2013 so the Gents need to be on their guard.

The Trophy (originally presented to the Club by A.W. & M. Liquorish) was duly handed to the winning team and will be kept safely in the Clubhouse until next season.

The week before, another fixture that hasn't taken place in recent years, Captain v Vice Captain, was re-introduced. This game was also played in beautiful weather, and the Captain's 6 Triples easily overcame the challenge of the Vice Captain's team with a comfortable 122 shots to 84 victory. The Vice Captain's team was led by President Les Canfield due to John Timms absence on holiday.

The game was a "mixed" 6 Triples and it is hoped that this also becomes an annual regular for the diary.

JUST A QUICK REMINDER - THERE IS A WORK PARTY NEXT SATURDAY MORNING (Sept 29th) STARTING AROUND 9AM AT THE CLUBHOUSE TO PUT ALL THE BITS AND PIECES AWAY FOR THE WINTER.

ALSO - DON'T FORGET - PRESENTATION EVENING ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 20TH - LIST ON THE CLUBHOUSE NOTICE BOARD - AND OF COURSE THE A.G.M ON MONDAY OCTOBER 22ND STARTING AT 7.30PM SHARP.
