On Saturday July 4th the Ladies Coronation Cup Singles competition was competed for by 12 players who braved the sweltering conditions.
On one of the hottest days of the year, the Ladies played in two Leagues of 6 playing a total of 5 ends against the other 5 players in their group. At the end of this stage the winners of each group played a 5 end final.
This final was between Caroline Walker from League A and Jill Brooks from League B . Caroline coped with the hot conditions better than Jill and won by 7 shots to 3.
The whole competition was played in a tremendous spirit by all the Ladies who took part and they all deserve a mention. In no particular order these were Frances Goodyear, Maureen Giles, Christine Liddle, Pearl Wheeler, Jill Brooks, Marthie Du Preez, Judy Copley, Jackie Emberson, Caroline Walker, Maxine Plested, Shirley Foster and Marion Keal.
Well done to Competitions Sec. Paul Heafey for another well organised event, and thanks to the 6 Men who acted as Markers for the afternoon. They shall remain nameless - they know who they were !
