Thame Bowls Club members on tour in 2009...
Several of our valuable Sponsors were there to see all Six Rinks being used by 48 of the 75 Members who took part in this year's League Competition. After this "exhibition" game of just 10 Ends, players joined other Members in the packed Clubhouse to enjoy the usual Friday "Club Night" atmosphere which has become synonymous with Thame Bowls Club.
The Winning Team for this season's Friday league was Team B led by Andy Walker, with Jesse Matthews, Maire Duncan, Christine Liddle, John Wheeler and Jane Kimber. Runner up was Team C with Captain Ron Duncan ably assisted by Leonard Grimshaw, Jackie Emberson, Frances Goodyear, Dave Holland and Pat Wills and in third place was Team J with Casper DuPreez, Gerry Barry, Margaret Boynton, Keith Rouse, Peter Southam and new bowler Carsten Jochum. All players received Cash Prizes for their efforts handed over by President Les Canfield.
Chairman Bill Giles then invited Vic Brooks to hand over the profit from this year's Friday League to Club Treasurer, Keith Wright who was able to announce that the sum of £1380 would be paid into our already substantial Club Funds. This has now increased by a further £75 after the final figures have been collated.

Then came a rather special presentation. Having learned that one of our Junior Bowlers had already received generous Sponsorship from Josie Silver, widow of the late and respected Member Les Silver, one of our generous Sponsors, Lightfoot Solicitors, had kindly offered to present a cheque for £200 each to two of Thame Bowls Club other Junior Members.
Thomas Tisbury and Jonathan Dadson received their cheques from Chris Biggs of Lightfoots and as an added surprise they each received a specially engraved trophy. Two active "senior" Club Members, Norman Hyde and Richard Ramsey had designed and made two unique trophies featuring Woods and Jack and each one engraved with the message "In Recognition of your Continued Bowling Success at Thame Bowls Club" and were both on hand to present these trophies personally to the two youngsters.

All three Junior Bowlers have represented Oxfordshire in Under-25 and Under- 18 Competitions this year as well as playing regularly in the Club's Thursday League team. We hope to see even more of their considerable playing ability next season.
The usual Friday Night Cash Prize Draw resulted in Prize Money totalling £75 being handed out to lucky winners.

The evening ended with a vote of thanks from President Les Canfield to the organisers of the Friday League, Bill Giles and Vic Brooks, who in turn promised that it will continue in similar format next season and for as long as it remains as popular.
