Away at South Oxford, the weather threw everything at this match- sun, rain, hailstones and a biting NE wind. In spite of this both sides fielded three brave triples. Rink 2 with Philippa Feltham, Jill Brooks and Jenny Reed saw them playing well. However, the Oxford skip was deadly and although the ladies battled heroically, they lost. They couldn’t have done any more, so well-done ladies for coping with a challenging opposition.
Rink 4 with the strong trio of Wendy Mannix, Jan Baker, playing in her first friendly game this season, and ever reliable Caroline Walker made a steady start. By the 8th end they were 7 in front and even after a late rally by the Oxford team they were never in danger of being overtaken. They finished the game with a wonderful 5 to win 19-11.
Rink 1, with skip Deirdre Page, Heather Hallchurch and lead Jan Sargeant worked hard, but even so by the 9th end they were 4-7 down. Nothing daunted they gradually increased their score and in the last five ends a 2 and two 4’s gave them a winning tally of 18-9 and a deserved best rink.
Thame won two rinks out of three but overall, we lost by four points 44-48 although that saw an improved score against South Oxford. Well done, ladies.

Ken King captained a home match against Hagbourne on a cold and blustery afternoon but were lucky to finish without getting wet (apart from the last end on rink 2). They lost on all rinks and finished down by 61 shots to 90. The best losing triple was played by Carol Slawson, Pauline Holmes and Deirdre Page. Despite the result and conditions all players enjoyed the afternoon, including the additional six substitute players who played triples on rink 6. Also, Adrian Dite stepped in for Hagbourne, who were a player short and contributed to their win on rink 1.
