Match Reports

Saturday 15th August 2026

Saturday's weather was slightly more comfortable for bowlers and supporters alike, a nice day. The result was disappointing with Long Crendon winning on all 5 rinks. The overall score was Thame 53 shots to Long Crendon’s 99. Thanks to all members who took part. Captain Ken King.

Sunday 16th August

We had a good win against Chesham on Sunday, who individually had some very strong players.  We won 3 rinks to 2 with the overall score of 81 to Thame 72 to Chesham.

The top rink was Peter Hall, Jill Brooks and David White. Dave Holland clung to his 100% record by the skin of his teeth by winning 15-14. This was their first visit to Thame since we had our new clubhouse, and they were very impressed with the facilities and the condition of the green. Captain Roger Blackburn.

Tuesday 18th August

For once the sun didn’t shine and the green looked good following overnight rain when Aylesbury Town brought three triples to play on our green.

On rink 4 Deirdre Page was skip with Philippa Feltham and Natalie Challoner. They played against a very experienced Aylesbury team and although they did make double figures they lost by 11-21.

Rink 3 had Marion Keal and Irene Park sharing the lead and a strong Jill Brooks and skip Caroline Walker combination. They were leading all the way and were holding a 14-10 advantage on the 17th end. Against the run of play, Aylesbury scored 5 on the last end to give them a one-point win, Aylesbury15 - Thame 14. Hard luck, ladies a one-point loss is hard to take.

On rink 2 Pauline Holmes was skip with Diane Mackriell enjoying playing two and ever reliable Jan Sargeant as lead. Thame was slow to start scoring and by the 8th end were 4-12 down. However, some dogged bowling saw Thame’s score increasing slowly and, on the 16th end, they were 14-15. The last two ends were won by some accurate bowling by all three and rink 2 was the winning rink with a score of 20–15. It was an enjoyable game against a very good opposition. Overall, the score was a loss for Thame by just 6 points - 45–51. Well-tried ladies - no one can fault us for our efforts. Captain Pauline Holmes
