The ladies match against Aston Clinton ladies was cancelled by the opposition as they have been unable to get a team together. This regrettably is becoming more normal.
Wednesday 20th May 2026
This was a hastily put together game against Henley away, due to a fixture date mix up. A big well done to Roger for ringing around the players to see if they were available, and a big thank you from me as he also put the teams together.
A cloudy day with the hope the rain held off, which it mostly did, one short shower and a few threats. We were playing 4 triples and with Captain Simon welcoming us we started a little early as all were present. On Rink 2 Roger Blackburn, Caroline Walker and Deirdre Page started off very slowly and were 11 shots down by end 6, however 4 shots on end 7 started their catchup, but a 7-shot win on end 17 and a 1 on end 18 gave them the win. Thame 20, Henley 17.
On Rink 3 a different story, with Dave Holland, Philippa Feltham and Phil Reed up against a very strong team, they succumbed Thame 9, Henley 21. On Rink 4 David Slawson, Jill Brooks and Sandra French played a closely fought game but wins on 4 of the last 5 ends gave them a win, Thame 20, Henley 16. On Rink 5 Jenny Reed, Colin French, and Jan Sargeant had a back-and-forth game, but managed to give themselves enough of a cushion to lose the last 3 ends but finish Thame 21, Henley 18.
Final score Thame 70, Henley 72. A close-run game if only! Captain Colin French.

Thame’s men played at home to Hanborough and ran out convincing winners by 106 shots to 27. This gave them 6 points. The highest winning rink was played by Jamie Challoner, Barry Green, David Slawson and skip Chris Shannon with a win of 33 shots to nil which was just better than Ray Plested’s quartet who won 33 – 4. Both scores have far exceeded the usual rink figures and although Hanborough had a slightly weakened team, you can only play against what is in front of you.
It has been a strong start to the season for Thame and after three games they are top of the league with 16.5 points and a shot difference of 118.
