Watlington ladies brought three triples to Thame on a dull day when there was a shower just before they arrived. Although the day was cloudy it was ‘muggy’ so the captains agreed a reduction in the number of ends played to 14 instead of 18.
Rink 4 had a shared lead between Marion Keal and Natasha Challoner along with the strong pairing of Jill Brooks and Deirdre Page. Originally in the lead, Thame couldn’t hold the experienced Watlington ladies and they lost by 5-15.
Rink 2 with a pair of Philippa Feltham and Carol Slawson were in the lead until the tenth end when Watlington drew level. The heat was taking its toll and despite a solid three and leading again on the twelfth end, Thame couldn’t hold on and lost 10-14. The score belied the very even game with some really good bowling by both teams. A joy to watch.
Rink 3 had, again, a shared lead position with June Greene and Jan Sargeant with Jenny Reed and skip Heather Hallchurch. Thame were straight into the lead ——— a win was never in doubt and a final score of 15–7 was a worthy result.
Overall Thame lost by 30–36. A good effort against an always strong opponent.

Thursday 6th August 2026
Thame’s men played their final Oxfordshire League match against Witney Town B and were narrowly defeated by one point. The final score was 58-57 to Witney and the league points were 3.5 – 2.5. Thame’s highest winning rink was played by Chris Shannon, Jamie Challoner, Adrian Wilcox and skip Dave Hickman 18-9. Thame did finish top of the league though, with 56 points (some 10.5 points ahead of the team in second place Woodstock) and with a shot difference of +295, both teams being promoted to Division 3 for next year. Saturday 8th August 2026
Saturday was another warm day fortunately not too humid, so we completed 18 ends.
Tring could only bring 4 triples, so we played 2 reserve rinks. Thanks to members for their support, especially reserves and particularly Keith Brooks, who came off the bench to cover a no show.
The members who played in the Tring match put in a great performance winning 3 rinks to 1, with the overall result being 66 shots to Thame and 51 to Tring. Well done to all.
Our highest winning rink was rink 5, Philippa Feltham, Phil Reed and Ray Plested 20 shots to 12. Captain Ken King.
