Saturday 23rd May 2026
The match was programmed to start at 2.30 but unfortunately Long Crendon were under the impression the start time was 2.00. The match still got underway at 2.20 and weather wise, quite hot but pleasant conditions, the green was ok.
The result was Thame 1 rink Long Crendon 4. Our winning rink was rink 5 Tony Battaglia, Leonard Grimshaw, and Dave White. They were 6 each after 6 ends, not the ideal number to see on a score board. However, by end 11 Thame were 15 to 6 up, and of the remaining 7 ends, Crendon won 6 but Thame hung on to win 16 to 15 well done.
The other rinks all had their moments but unfortunately it wasn't to be. Thanks to all members who played and endured. Captain Ken King.
Thursday 28th May
On Thursday, we struggled to field 5 triples, against a strong Waddesdon team, but thanks to Rob Burrows, a newish player, we managed to get the 15 with no reserves. This meant quite a few players were playing in positions they were not comfortable with. When you come across a very strong club with numerous county players in a friendly fixture the result was no surprise. A resounding defeat 101 to Waddesdon and 54 to Thame, but despite this score we did have one winning rink, Roger Mackreill, Rob Burrows and skip David Holland. One other rink came fairly close, only losing by 5 points. Captain Roger Blackburn.
