Saturday 12th September
Our last Saturday fixture was away at Cheddington, a great day for bowling, we were 4 triples. The green looked very good at first sight however when we started bowling it proved quite tricky equally for us and the home side.
After 12 ends all 4 rinks were very close and remained competitive. The final result was 2 rinks for each team, our winning rink being rink 5 Nigel Legard, Phil Reed and Mike Ralls by 18 shots to 13. Well done to them and the rest of our team.
The overall result was Thame 64 shots Cheddington 69.
Tuesday 22nd September
It was an overcast but muggy day when the ladies had their final roll up of the season. Twenty-one ladies played triples for an hour before retiring to the club house. There were cakes and nibbles with tea or Pimms (thanks to Jo Green) for refreshment. There was a free raffle to empty the cupboard of all raffle prizes, then Wendy Mannix gave a speech summing up the seasons play. The ladies did well with more points scored for Thame over the season than against them. Pauline Holmes thanked all who had donated cake and Pimms and gave a vote of thanks to Maire Duncan, our retiring President, for her unfailing support throughout the season. A toast to the Ladies of Thame Bowls Club was proposed and a thorough tidying up saw the end of a happy day.

PS With generous cash, food and drink donations from our ladies on the day we were able to add a further £65 to our Cancer Research giving making the total gift to them £1,824. Well done again, ladies. PH
